A mini excavator rents for $450 a day in South Florida, a skid steer or compact track loader for $400, and a plate compactor for $125. Delivery is $150 flat in Palm Beach and Broward and $200 in Miami Dade. A 1 day mini excavator job in Boca Raton costs $650 all in.

A week costs 4 times the daily rate. Once a rental reaches 4 days, the price stops climbing until day 7, so a 5, 6 or 7 day rental costs the same as 4 days.
What gets added to the rental

The $800 deposit hold is separate from every total above. It drops off your card after the return.
How to keep the bill down
- Rent by the week once the job runs past 3 days. Days 4 through 7 cost nothing extra.
- Put 2 machines on one delivery. An excavator and a compactor going to the same address pay 1 delivery fee.
- Book by 2 PM the day before. Next day delivery has no surcharge. Same day adds $75.
- Return it full. Fuel is the most common extra charge and the easiest to avoid.
- Pick the smallest machine that does the job. The mini track loader at $275 a day moves material through a 36 inch gate where a full skid steer will not fit.
